Pornographic art? Not in Australia, Michelangelo

Chocolate, naked women.

When is art pornography? And when should governments intervene and apply an X-rating to some art? And when should it be blacklisted?

The latest push by Australian politicians would classify Michelangelo?s ?David? as pornography.

A Senate enquiry launched by conservative Senator Guy Barnett has heard submissions that would classify full-frontal nudity as X-rated in any work of art, reports www.smh.com.au

This would not take into account any artistic merit when classifying works.

The move is the latest concerted drive to ban pornographic art. It follows the media storm that blew up around contemporary photographer Bill Henson?s exhibition in May 2008.
