Japan?s cemetery loyalty card

Forget frequent-flyer miles -- loyalty point collection in Japan has reached new heights (or rather, depths), with the introduction of a cemetery loyalty card, called the Mairi Point Card. "Mairi" in Japanese is used to refer to graveyard visitations. 

Every grave site purchased at Makuhari Cemetery, which opened in May 2010 in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo, comes with one master reward card and three subsidiary cards that will chalk up 30 cemetery credits for the user for each visit.
